Through the Mist
Sootstar padded out of his den before dawn, and what greeted his eyes was a lazy mist, that dampened sounds, and reduced vision to only a tail-length. Using his nose more than his sight, he trotted to the warriors den just at Cloudstep, a wise old tom was padding out. Nodding their heads, they crept out of camp silently to go patrol the territory. Little words were spoken as they traveled through the forest, heading south along the river. Right as they reach the stepping stones, a shadow in the shape of a cat was crossing the stones. They immediately crouched down, hiding in the bushes that were near the river. The closer the shadow got, the more clear it became, and with the help of the sun rising higher into the sky, the mist cleared to reveal a young she-cat, who seemed to have an injury. With a nod, Sootstar rose, and walked slowly towards the she-cat, with Cloudstep right behind him in case she decided to attack. Once her paws touched land, her ears pricked forward, noticing the two, strong toms. Standing her ground, she looked them in the eyes and mewed,
"If you're going to kill me, just get it over with, I have no reason to live anyway..."
Sootstar blinked slowly, shaking his head.
"Why would we kill you? We are from Spiritclan, a place of peace and compassion, we do not kill for fun. I am Sootstar, leader of Spiritclan. The tom next to me is one of my senior warriors, Cloudstep... May we ask your name?"
The she-cat began to relax as Sootstar spoke, and when he finished speaking, she sat down and wrapped her fluffy tail around her frail body.
"I am Misty, for I was born on a similar day like this, where the mist lied low, and the sun could not banish it. But now, I'm running due to a danger that has murdered my family..."
Nodding his head thoughtfully, he padded towards her, while Cloudstep crept away from the pair of cats, trusting his leader's decision and going off to hunt for Misty.
"Well Misty, you can stay at our camp until you recover from your wounds, and then, if you want, you can join our clan, and become a warrior where you can learn how to protect yourself and the rest of your clan mates. Would you be interested?"
Her eyes brightened at the thought of fresh kill, and a safe place to rest. Rising to her paws, she padded forward, her golden eyes reflecting into his.
"I accept your offer, and I'll prove to you that I will become your strongest fighter."
